ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for developing a 100 MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project in Barmer, Rajasthan.
This marks a significant milestone in the company’s clean energy expansion strategy and underlines its continued support for India’s renewable energy mission.
Situated in one of India’s highest solar irradiance zones, the Barmer Solar Photovoltaic project is expected to be commissioned by 2027. The project adds to ENGIE’s expanding renewable portfolio in Rajasthan, which now approaches 1 GW.

Strong infrastructure connectivity and optimal site conditions make Barmer a crucial location for utility-scale solar development in the country.

Over the years, ENGIE has executed several key Solar Photovoltaic projects across India. Notably, the 200 MW Raghnesda Solar Power Plant in Gujarat was successfully commissioned during the pandemic and continues to deliver consistent clean energy.

The 250 MW Kadapa project in Andhra Pradesh integrates advanced inverter technology for higher efficiency, while the 140 MW Bhadla project in Rajasthan utilizes robotic, water-free cleaning systems, setting a benchmark for desert-based solar operations.

With a current renewable portfolio of 2.5 GW across 23 projects in seven states, including more than 300 MW in Rajasthan, ENGIE remains one of the key contributors to India’s green energy ecosystem.
